Build and the one feature most sandwich makers skip
User-facing parts: stainless steel handle and top. Bottom is still plastic (electronics live there, he assumed). Rubber feet — good grip on the counter.
Then the interesting bit: it opens 180°. Essentially becomes a grilled tawa. Most sandwich makers do not do this. He used flat mode later for vegetables.
Plates are large. Non-stick coating he described as not PTFE-based — “food safe,” his words from the review. Deep grooves for heat distribution. Oil spout (he placed a plate under it; the oil tray itself, he said, they did not get in the box).
Operation: plug into a 15 amp socket. Red light = power on. Green light = ready. Under a minute or two to green, he said.
Cooking tests (what he actually cooked)
Cheese sandwich — two slices, one cheese slice. Even browning. Fast. Did not stick.
Loaded sandwich — why he dislikes some cheaper grills: they don’t close properly, veggies pick to the surface. This one has a floating hinge (a bit of spring) so top and bottom press uniformly. Both sides cooked evenly.
Paneer tikka — basic marination. Consistent grill marks. Not undercooked in one spot and overcooked in another.
Grilled aloo — boiled aloo, chaat masala, green chilli. Both sides done well.
Flat mode vegetables — capsicum and carrots on the 180° open plates. Again well done. Excess oil collecting via the spout.
Storage
Relatively large sandwich maker / grill. If you do not have counter or cupboard space, do not buy this. Storing it will be a challenge — his words.
